Utilities
Greater Cincinnati has an exceptionally strong utility base.
Gas and Electric
Duke Energy offers electric service to 3.7 million customers in the Carolinas, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, and retail gas to 500,000 customers in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Duke Energy in Ohio, with generating system capacity of nearly 11,000 megawatts, offers a full-range of economic development services. Our fleet of power plants generates approximately 28,000 megawatts of electricity from a variety of fuel sources - from hydroelectric to coal, oil and natural gas to nuclear. A combination of baseload and peaking facilities allows Duke Energy to serve its industrial customers at rates below the national average.
Telecommunications
Cincinnati Bell is the premier supplier of telecommunications services in the Greater Cincinnati region, serving more than 45,000 businesses and 1.6 million people in one of the largest calling areas in the U.S.
Water
The Greater Cincinnati area enjoys an almost limitless supply of high quality portable water, at rates among the lowest in the country. The various areas in the region receive water service from municipalities, water boards, or water districts, the largest of which is the Cincinnati Water Works.
