Duke Energy itself is invested in Cincinnati USA. We live, work and play here.

Remarkable Region, Remarkable Assets

Cincinnati USA is rich in international business activity and home to more than 300 wholly or partially foreign-owned companies. Duke Energy is a major force in helping internationally based companies learn more about the opportunities in Cincinnati USA.

Cincinnati USA consistently ranks among Site Selection magazine’s top 10 large metro areas for new and expanded corporate facilities. The reasons are many: We are within an hour’s flight of half of the nation’s population; if you want to drive, five major highways converge here; our population is 2.1 million people strong, and it is served by four universities, hospitals ranked among the nation’s best, and an affordable housing market; our cost of living is low while our quality of life is high, with all of the “major-league” entities – sports, arts, culture and attractions – that support that quality of life.

The region outranks New York, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles in the number of Fortune 500 headquarters per million residents, with nine such headquarters here.

Employees at those companies and at businesses of all sizes enjoy an active and diverse Chamber of Commerce community. Cincinnati is the site of the first U.S. Chapter of the European Chamber of Commerce. And in addition to a collaborative regional Chamber of Commerce, the region also features Chambers that serve Hispanic, Chinese, female and minority interests, as well as Chambers that focus on single municipalities or business districts.

While the region’s industrial base used to be manufacturing, it has evolved with the service economy. Cincinnati USA recently was designated a Hub of Innovation in Consumer Marketing, with a heavy concentration of creative talent and brand design. The Hub designation from the state of Ohio essentially creates a regional economic development initiative around the consumer marketing industry, complete with $250,000 in seed money to attract and retain creative talent.

Additionally, the region has strong industry clusters in aerospace, automotive, biotechnology, chemistry, financial services, IT services and consumer goods.

With its rolling hills and scenic riverfront, with its glistening corporate headquarters and its vibrant cultural scene, Cincinnati USA has a small-town feel with big-city amenities. We have access to the resources companies need to attract employees, conduct profitable business, and be successful.
